During my time writing, I have been fortunate to interview the brilliant Leigh Whannell three times (and counting). As a horror nerd with a love for Saw and Insidious, it’s always a pleasure to speak with him. The first time I got to speak with Whannell was for Insidious 3, his first go in the director’s chair. As the interview was a video one as part of the junket for the film, I was restricted to just five minutes of time, and so I’m very grateful that our paths also crossed for both Cooties and Upgrade where we had more time to delve into his works. Those print conversations will inevitably end up on Film Disclosure at some point in the future, but until then, please enjoy our brief first encounter.
