My very first video press junket was for the television crime series Crossing Lines. Actor William Fichtner was the lead and I was lucky enough to get to speak with him. Whilst the full interview appears on You Tube on THN’s channel, we also ran a news article as I was one of the few brave enough to ask him about his then forthcoming role as Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As a kid who grew up in the late eighties and early nineties, the Turtles cartoon was staple viewing – I can still sing all the words to that epic theme tune. With that in mind, I had to ask him whether everyone’s favourite rhino and warthog (Bebop and Rocksteady) henchmen would be making an appearance. It turned out that he had never heard of such creatures and I think he may have thought I was not of sound mind. The pair would go on to feature in the sequel – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, but sadly Fichtner did not appear alongside them.
